Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of our said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, we declare that what we claim is: (1) Indicating mechanism comprising a circuit including a sensitive rheostat, a relatively rigid member controlling the actuation of the rheostat, and means for imparting to said member the motion to be measured. (2) Indicating mechanism according to claim (1) in which the rheostat is of the carbon pile type with two piles arranged in series constituting arms of a wheatstone bridge. (3) Indicating mechanism according to Claim (2) in which an oscillograph is included in the circuit of the wheatstone bridge. (4) Indicating mechanism according to Claims (1) and (2) or Claim (3) in which the relatively rigid member is interposed between the carbon piles of the rheostat. (5) Pressure indicating mechanism comprising a relatively rigid yieldable member with which is connected means capable of being exposed in part to fluid pressure within a chamber. (6) Pressure indicating mechanism according to Claim (5) in which the relatively rigid yieldable member is connected with a sensitive rheostat controlling a circuit through an indicator. (7) Pressure indicating mechanism according to Claim (5) in which the means connected with the relatively rigid yieldable member comprises a rigid portion and a diaphragm or equivalent capable of sealing an opening in the chamber. (8) Pressure indicating mechanism according to Claim (7) in which provision is made for cooling the diaphragm or equivalent. (9) In pressure indicating apparatus the combination of a plug adapted to be secured in an opening in a pressure chamber, said plug being provided with a central bore, a diaphragm or equivalent sealing the lower end of the bore, rigid thrust member secured to the diaphragm or equivalent and projecting through the bore, a g frame on said plug, a relatively rigid yieldable arm projecting from the frame and connected to the thrust member, and indicating apparatus operated by said arm. (10) A combination according to Claim (9) in which the plug is provided with a passage through which cooling fluid can be projected on to the diaphragm or equivalent. (11) A combination according to Claim (10) in which provision is made for the escape of cooling fluid through the bore of the plug. (12) A combination according to any of Claims (9) to (11) in which the | ||
