P.3. GEARBOXES. We have found on recent dynamometer tests that the depth of engagement of 2nd. gear is important to prevent it coming out of mesh. At the moment the position of the sliding piece when in mesh is affected by limits on nearly every part of the box including several of the castings. We recommend that a gauge is made which can be inserted in the box through the lid{A. J. Lidsey} to check that the engagement in the spring loaded selector position is correct on both 2nd. and 3rd. speeds. RmGry. | ||
