X8790 (for 1317) Sent to:- The Lucas Elect Co. The M.L. Magneto Syndicate Ltd. Birmingham. Victoria Wks. Coventry, (+4/T) EPCS/T. 29th May, 1924. Dear Sirs, Re Six-Cylinder Magneto (with automatic advance) for R.R. 40/50 Car. During the recent visit of your Dr Turner to our Works, the question of magneto requirements for the R.R. 40/50 chassis was discussed with a view to the possibility of your firm submitting sample magnetos made up to comply with these requirements. A preliminary tentative "specification of performance of a six-cylinder magneto (with automatic advance) for R.R. 40/50 car" was handed to your and the various points contained in this specification were fully discussed, but it is considered expedient to set down below some notes with reference to this specification, covering, for convenience of reference, the various points, in a rather more amplified manner. It was stated that the draft of the specification was by no means final, but would certainly be subject to considerable modification and perhaps addition, and particularly either the figures therein given did not necessarily represent those to be finally fixed upon, but that in spite of this, the general idea of our requirements would not be affected. As we have made certain modifications to this specification since the time of your visit, we are attaching a further copy of this in its present form. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
