With reference to your note re. chassis 53-WR. The reason we did not give you any information was because the evidence you gave us was so scanty. We have never suffered from any trouble which we could call a vibration in the valve gear, and cannot locate it without information as to whether it occurred at low or high speeds, with a cold or hot engine, whether it occurred running light or under load.

We have a valve spring which keeps the valves on their seats up to a higher speed than standard and has been tested for 10,000 miles. The Piece No. is E78071

The other sources of valve gear noise is the unequal expansion of the aluminium push rods and the castiron cyl. blocks. Information with regard to this has been circulated in Depot Sheets and the easiest way to effect the cure is to fit valve guides having the reduced clearance to the valve stems and to make sure that the valve seats are cut concentrically with the guides. If the trouble persists we should only be too pleased to tell you all that we know if you will let us have further information about it.
