Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} West WitteringHenry Royce's home town. Copy to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Sp{Mr Spinney}2/H/29.5.23. re. 20-HP Cars. A lot of oil appears to be thrown out at front and rear ends of propellor shaft. That from the back end finds it way through the joints in the floor boards or between floor boards and heel boards. In several instances this has resulted in damage to the carpets. When the heel board is covered with light coloured lining it is practically impossible to clean off the oil stains. We are doubtful of the ability of coachbuilders to make floor and heel board joint oil-tight; Clearances here are very fine. Is it possible, please, to prevent the oil being thrown out?
