704 To: Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 2.8.40 784 BODY DESIGN PERSONNEL. -------------------- Regarding the additional Body Draughtsmen who are required for MYTH, and referring to the two men with whom we are in correspondence, I suggest that it is advisable to engage them as soon as possible, so that the necessary drawings can be made, and the experimental model built within a reasonable time. Furthermore, as there is a scarcity of this class of draughtsman, it is advisable to engage them now that we have the opportunity. I am assuming that it is your intention in the future to supply drawings and specifications of any bodies that you may have built in quantities of say lots of 50, so that design may be more closely controlled, and as many parts as possible made common to all cars, with a view to reducing costs and simplifying service. That being so, when MYTH is finished, there will be ample work for these people to do. I think you will agree that it is necessary for the sample model to be as nearly as possible the same as the ultimate production article. In that case, each individual part will have to be schemed in considerable detail. In addition to the above men, we shall want at a later date an experienced man to compile manufacturing and purchase specifications, as well as to keep records. [Signature] | ||
