HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} C. to - SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} [text crossed out] " WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} " BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL. R2/M13.5.31. 85230. JAPAN 1. - EXHAUST SYSTEM. The Silver Ghost had the best system, and we have never found anything better. The two sets of 3 cylinders were kept separate for some distance. It will need the exhaust ports grouped 2 and 1., thus: Inlets will be 1. 3. 6. 7. 10. 12. Exhaust " 2. 4. 5. 8. 9. 11. with the exhaust heat passages from 4. and 5., and 8 and 9. groups. It is understood that the carburetter must have the following items: (1) Jet control. (2) Starter enricher (not strangler.) (3) Pump accelerator. We cannot buy this combination, and this is our reason for making, and will leave us better than competitors.
