x2512 EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} from By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Sft.{Mr Swift} c. to Mr. Brock. c. to EFC. ByZ/P26.6.20. X.3129. RE FAULTY BATTERY IGNITION & CONDENSER TROUBLES. X.2512. Referring to your memo EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}2/F22.6.20, re the above, I had had a condenser from the works and find when the terminal is fitted and the nut tightened up there is a clear thread above the nut and therefore I don't consider it is necessary to lengthen the stud as suggested by you. What actually has happened on the condensers you complain of is, the boss on the cases have not been machined enough, thereby leaving them from 20 to 40 thous, too thick. This natually appears to shorten the stud, in which case the nut will not screw on the required amount. Will you please have all condensers with studs that appear to be short returned to this *department and we will have them replaced. Regarding the two nuts that hold the condenser in position, we are having a new scheme got out which should overcome all the difficulties you are against, and we will let you know more in the course of a few days.
