Another point is, that it sometimes happens in starting, that the engine gives a few, and frequently only one explosion, without getting away. One explosion is sufficient to throw the starter system over on to the hold-off coil, which means that the motor cannot be used continuously to get the engine started when carburation circumstances are not at the best.

For these reasons there has been suggested a switch in the teazer circuit operated by the oil relay system, or otherwise centrifugally operated.
