X110 Exptl. Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Smth.10/JH. 23rd October, 1936. A.R. Smith Esq., The Ford Motor Company Ltd., Dagenham, Essex. Dear Sir, We are interested in the question of using rubberised friction fabrics for clutches, and noticed at the Show that the replacement driven plates for your Model B were faced with such material. It has been our experience that rubberised fabrics give a smoother engagement, but are not so durable as asbestos ones. We should be grateful for any information you can give us in confirmation of this or otherwise. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
