-2- Contd. (a) First connect terminal No.6. to the positive of a 12 volt battery, and connect one terminal of a 12 volt lamp (preferably a large c.p. C.M.F. lamp taking 4 amperes) to the negative end of the battery. The wire from the other terminal of the lamp is used to touch successively on the various distributing terminals Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, and the central terminal, and it shall be verified in this manner that no light is obtained on these terminals with the switches in the "off" position, but that :- (i) With S and T switched on, light is obtained from terminal No.5 only. (ii) With HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and T switched on, light is obtained from terminals Nos.4 & 5. (iii) With M & B only switched on light is obtained from terminal No.3. (iv) With M B & C switched on, light is obtained from terminals Nos. 1, 2 & 3. (v) With M & C switched on, light is obtained from terminals Nos.1 and 2. (b) The right hand switch should now be placed in the M B & C position and moved very slowly back to the M & B position, when it should be confirmed that in passing from one position to the other the light from terminal No.2 is extinguished definitely, over an appreciable angle of lever travel, before that from terminal No.1 . (c) Now remove battery positive terminal No.6. and connect itt to terminal No.1. Put loose terminal wire on 2 and ascertain that no light is obtained until the positions M,B & C or M & C are made. (d) Connect battery positive to centre terminal, and loose terminal wire to case. Ascertain that no light is obtained except in the off position only. (e) Now remove battery positive from centre terminal and connect it to 7. Then connect battery negative to case. Connect lamp between terminal GL{G. Linnett} and case and ascertain that it lights by operating the press button switch. Next, connect lamp terminals to inspection plug and ascertain that it is lighted by inserting the plug in its socket. EFC. | ||
