With reference to heat in the floor boards, I think this matter has been in the hands of the Experimental Dept. for a long time without very much progress. At the same time I do not think we take advantage of the knowledge we have gained, and we might also reconsider the matter after the new chassis is on the road.

I have always recommended that we use bonnets with shutters.

This must without doubt tend to keep both water in the radiator and the floor boards cooler when these are opened.

We have lately arranged to use four shutters instead of two as previously, and with the four shutters it is very unlikely for there to be any considerable pressure of air under the bonnet, so the right thing to do I think is to have the experimental permanent number on the Experimental Department Car for the reduction of heat, and a record kept as to how the matter stands.
