BENTLEY AND PHANTOM 111.

STEERING COLUMN - ANTI RATTLE DEVICE.

Attached hereto is a sketch shewing a proposed method of spring loading the felt strip in the steering column.

Will HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} please produce six sample springs. (Note: 'two' is struck through and 'six' is handwritten above).

These springs are required to enable GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} to test the scheme on cars which are sent in for rattles in the steering column.

It is suggested that they should be tried with the original felts to give us an early result.

To enable the springs to be produced as soon as possible, they should be made in any reasonable guage of material that is available.
