X421 To BJ. from R. {Sir Henry Royce} etc. Extract from R2/M3.6.24. In response to your memo BJ2/H24.5.24, to E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} I had the impression that I had dealt with most of these matters, but the following are my opinions however:- (1) WIRE WHEELS - RUDGE-WHITWORTH. X.421. BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} objects at present on certain grounds to these wheels. I suggest that further tests should be made and that a sample should be sent to WW. (2) BEVEL PINIONS & WHEELS FITTED TO FIRST 220 OF 20 HP SERIES. X.4247. E.4569. There appears to me to be no reason for a desperate policy, and I suggest that we only change these gears whenever the cars come into the Works for overhaul. | ||
