Propeller shaft clearances, axle rebound, and crossmember modifications for the 25HP model.

With reference to W. scheme 3352, we agree to .200 clearance between the propeller shaft - 2.5 dia. - and the hole in the sheet metal 3rd. crossmember. This may be obtained by raising the upswept flange and hole .100". Should we go to a 2.750 dia. shaft at some future date we would merely cut the slot in the crossmember web a little higher.

On the present 25HP. we understand that the rebound of the axle is stopped by the hydraulic damper piston reaching the end of the stroke. This occurs 1" before the free position of the spring we believe.

We have shewn for J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. a 5.625 rebound from the full load position as given on your F57235. At this rebound the shaft is .625 clear of the hole in the crossmember web on our sch.

There certainly need be no more than say .250 clearance here when the damper piston is at the end of the cylinder.

We are anxious to keep all the axle clearances only just enough on J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. or else it will be a chassis no better than the present 25HP. from the coachwork point of view. We cannot allow that to happen.
