PRODUCTION CONDENSER PROCEDURE. --------------------------- (1) Before encasing a condenser it shall be tested by applying to its terminals an alternating voltage of about 450, for a period of 10 minutes, through a light fuse, it shall be verified after this period that the condenser is capable of holding a static charge. If this is the case the condenser after being disconnected from the transformer (which should be effected by means of a double pole switch) should be capable of producing a spark, when one end of a wire, the other end of which is connected to the other terminal, be brought in contact with the other terminal. If it will not do this, it must be rebaked, otherwise it will give a spurious capacity reading on test 2. (2) If the condenser stands test 1. it will be tested for capacity by being placed in series with an A.C. milli-ammeter reading up to 30 milli-amperes, across an alternating voltage of 210, when the milli-amperes of capacity current taken by the condenser shall lie between the limits 11.0 and 13.5 (3) If satisfactory as regards (1) and (2) the condenser shall now be finally fitted up in its case. (4) The first part of test 1. should now be repeated but for 5 minutes only. The capacity of holding a static charge also, should again be vertified. Footer: 6892-C.10-9-19-250.(L 001) SKS | ||
