- 2 - Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}6/G.11.8.39. Toe-in previously allowed on Wraith has been 1/4" + 1/8", only occasional ones being as much as 3/8". The official figure for Phantom III is 3/16" + 1/8", but here again occasional ones have been passed out at 3/8". Increase of toe-in with bump and rebound is appreciably less on Phantom III than on Wraith. It would be interesting to obtain comparative figures of tyre wear for zero and 3/8" toe-in; is there any possibility of getting such figures from trials cars? Apart from Dawtrey's remarks, suggesting that Standards have been troubled by excessive front tyre wear, I know that Daimlers have had it on the 2 1/2 litre independent front suspension car, and I believe that other firms have also had it, including Humbers.
