MINUTES OF CHASSIS CONFERENCE HELD IN Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s TECHNICAL STAFF OFFICE 12/4/39 Present: Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Cry. AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} RC.{R. Childs} IWN. Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} Ed.{J. L. Edwards} FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems} CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} GR.{George Ratcliffe} TAS.{T. Allan Swinden} (1) Ratcliffe will consider whether there is any existing type of oil cooler which could be used for the B.V. Paulin should this be necessary. (2) Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} will send a note to the D.O. re the exhaust system with improved cutout which was finally fitted to Embricos' car. He will also rig up a control to the driver's seat. (3) Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} will follow up B.V. controls and endeavour to get a satisfactory solution within a week. (4) The automatic starter carburetter must be cleared up forthwith. GR.{George Ratcliffe} will make tests in the cold chamber. (5) To prevent exhaust manifold blows 50% longer /experimentally studs should be instructed of slightly larger diameter. Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} to see Ald.{F. Allwood - Experimental Design} and get necessary drawing. Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} considers trouble solely due to corrujoint washers. (6) S.B. and 9.B. steerings to be compared on the Buxton Road with a view to deciding exactly what is required for production. (7) AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} will arrange to stick to the same rear road spring deflection and reduce stress by re-building the spring. We are prepared to spend money to get them right. (8) FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} to await figure for the standardised Wraith saloon to compare with Wraith Replacement. (9) Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} to investigate the valve gear noise which persists when starting up from cold. Cold Chamber to be used. (11) Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} to urge modified exhaust valve which has been designed on the strength of the French failure. | ||
