FLYWHEEL FLUTTER.

We cannot expect to cure any of the present car vibration troubles entirely, and must work on minimising by a small percentage in several ways.

Why P. 2. is better than the 25HP. is probably due to the centre of gravity of the flywheel being nearer the centre of the bearing, and theflutter angle produces greater out-of-balance in the 25HP., hence, if true, the great advantage of moving the centre of gravity nearer the centre of the bearing.

Balance weights and position of centre of gravity do not meterialy alter the periodicity, and if we wish to do so we must stiffen up the crankshaft and flywheel mounting, and get all we can out of making the mass lighter.

As well as moving the rim of the flywheel nearer, which again will not affect the periodicity much, there is some of the flywheel which overhangs considerably but does not contribute much to the momentum. We have done all this is the designs.
