To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} 41020 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}4/KW.26.8.35. Bearing Metals. Since the bearing clearances on B-15 unit have been increased to prevent the lead bronze tightening up we are troubled with low oil pressure and greatly increased heat to oil. We realise that these features are inevitable when using lead bronze bearings. We therefore wish to get more information on the behaviour of Hall's metal. We have instructed this for B-16 and the Test Rig Unit. Will you please assemble whichever of these engines is built first with whitemetal clearances. For other reasons we want to run B-16 as soon as possible, and shall be glad therefore if you will urge this engine. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
