RE. FAULTY LUBRICATION, RECEIVED DOUBLE SWIVEL FRONT LINK FOR CANTILEVER SPRINGS.

In his report on the condition of 3-X (Mr.de Salamanca's car) Hml/W8.12.20. Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} pointsout the faulty condition of the top bearing of this link and suggests that the method of lubrication should be improved.

I quite agree with his recommendation and can certainly confirm the fact that the condition of this bearing is fairly general on cars which have been in service for some time, even although the general lubrication of the car seems to have been carried out satisfactorily, as reported by Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} in the case of 3-X car.

We are anxious that this point should receive some favourable consideration from a design point of view, and a slight alteration such as that suggested by Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}, and which has been previously suggested by us some considerable time ago, could be embodied to advantage.
