200 also 2000 To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}2/AP.14.2.38 Week-end run on 3.B.1V. The worst features on this car are still the ride and suspension knocks. Other points of interest are:- 1. The Goodrich tyres are surprisingly quiet considering the shape of their tread. There is a slight sing at about 45 m.p.h. and they are noisier than the Indias on a slow hard corner. 2. It it difficult to engage direct gear, and unless the gear lever is pushed right home it jumps out of mesh in a very short distance. This is probably due to tightness in the reversing mechanism inside the box, a complaint we have had on nearly every overdrive gear-box. 3. A bottom water connection has been leaking badly and about 1 1/2 gallons of water has been added to the radiator, which will have considerably diluted the Glycol. 4. When running at night with the headlamps on, there is a discharge of about 5 amperes. 5. The dipper switch is erratic in its behaviour. The off-side lamp sometimes going out and sometimes dipping. 6. The engine gears are terrible. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
