Da. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} 14/G.27.3.39. Allocated to Da {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} /Hdy. {William Hardy} REAR AXLE. 8 1/2" Ring Gear. Unless the single piece propeller shaft compels the use of 1 1/2" Hypoid, there is nothing to be done on this axle, except possible simplification on the lines of Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Gry. {Shadwell Grylls} 1/MH. {M. Huckerby} 8.3.39. the desirability of which is doubtful. 10" Ring Gear. Hdy {William Hardy} 's Department being at the moment reduced to a minimum, and being fully occupied with an overdrive gear box, it is impossible to say when the 10" axle can be started, but it should be done by this Department; probably four weeks after starting if we follow the existing lines, more, if any radical departure is considered.
