X3579 To EY. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}9/LG15.6.25. RE. NOISE FROM AUTOVAC. You will notice that EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} complains of a jingling noise which comes from the Autovac. We have investigated this and find that apart from the suction noise of the Autovac, there is a mechanical tinkling noise which becomes apparent when the car is driven over uneven roads, or when a stationary car is rocked on its springs. This is caused by the Autovac float spindle rattling in the outlet pipe of the inner chamber and can easily be overcome by fitting a guide for the float spindle in the bottom of the inner chamber. It is necessary for the hole in the guide to be large enough to allow the spindle to work up and down in it freely. It is also necessary that the guide should be cut away as much as possible in order not to impede the petrol flow into the main Autovac tank. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
