Replying to your Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}8/KW.7.2.36., I was sorry I was not at the Works to see you.

Regarding your queries with reference to the headlamp control referred to in your Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}5/KW.15.1.36. we have already seen this scheme as well as others very similar to it, and our opinion is that unless there is a definite demand for this type of headlamp control we do not see that there would be any useful purpose served in adopting same. It adds more complication to the chassis and puts up the cost.

We feel that with the slight spread of the beam on our headlamps the sides of the road are sufficiently illuminated even when cornering and in any case when taking a left hand bend the headlamps can be dipped to the left to get the requisite illumination.

With regard to the car radio, I have now had an opportunity of trying out the new Philco arrangement and I am definitely of the opinion that the new aerial we have adopted as mounted on 21.G.IV is an advantage in supressing ignition noise. The Philco set is very selective and quite powerful but is still subject to what I consider vibrator noise from the H.T. vibrator inside the set. I have yet to hear a set which is as good (in itself) as the motor generator supplied High Tension set such as the Ekco, etc.

I think that if the Philco people adopted the motor generator for their H.T. instead of using a vibrator their set would be far the best.

I would certainly recommend you to obtain one of these sets, however, and try it out on your own car.
