COPY. "Old English Gentleman", Normanton Rd, Derby. April 4th. 1928. Mr. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} De Looze. Dear Sir, Now that the turmoil is over and I feel that I can sit down and calmly reflect on the events of the last two weeks I feel that I must write to you and try to express our thanks for all that has been done by yourself and staff to assist us in our terrible bereavement. In the first place your Colonel Hawkins left no stone unturned that our boy should have the best possible surgical assistance, his consideration for my own personal comfort, his constant attention to detail and in getting through all the formalities and to get out of the way all obstructions that were likely to hinder my boy's coming home. For this we shall always be grateful and I will take the first opportunity of thanking him personally for his kindness. From your own Derby staff right through we have been overwhelmed with sympathy and kindness. Our loss is greater than people imagine and is indeed a terrible blow. We have no blame or criticism to offer but regard ourselves as the victims of cruel circumstances. We trust that this will be the last tragedy of its kind that your company may meet with. Please convey to all your staff and workmen our grateful thanks for their wonderful kindness and sympathy. Yours faithfully, Sgd. A.E.Butler. | ||
