HYDRAULIC SHOCK ABSORBERS.

We believe that by taking sufficient care in filling the shock absorber, and using the device illustrated in the attached sketch, it is possible to eliminate the chatter previously experienced.

We have not had sufficient running with these shock absorbers to say whether the chatter can ever return under road conditions. So far we have one pair that have done over 100 miles including high speed wobble tests and still remain O.K. for chatters - there is a little lost movement, however, which we suspect emanates from wear in the links. Tests on the bumping rig should soon shew durability and oil retaining qualities of the design; we hope to have this running before the end of the week.

The weight of the shock absorber filled with oil but less connecting link is 6 lbs. 14 ozs. The Lovejoy in aluminium is 10.5 lbs.
