To BA. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to SJ. " " RH.{R. Hollingworth} " " HG. " " HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} " " EFC. X.4141. ORIGINAL E3/C4/6/20. RE EXHAUST CUT-OUT SEATING. N. SCHEME 368. Referring to the above scheme, kindly note Mr. Royce's criticisms as follows:- (1) The inside of the forging should be profile milled if possible, with about one inch diameter cutter. To this end it will be necessary to leave 1/4" radius in the corners in the plan view, if the shape of the cut-out valve itself will allow of this. To assist in accommodating the 1/4" radius, the width of the face at each end of the cut-out flange could be reduced. (2) Forge the stud bosses at each end to the depth only required for studding. This saves weight and leaves a square face for the tapping drill to break out of. (3) The corners of the forging where it is welded to the pipe might, with advantage, be swept round the stud boss. We return print herewith shewing marks illustrating the above points. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} EFC JUN 7 RECEIVED. | ||
