Con Rods.

on this point.

Drilled up steel rods with .75 dia. gudgeon, large end 1.375 overall width less clearance. We are looking into the question at the moment of reducing this width or using an offset rod to shorten the engine if the features of the head will permit of a reduction in cylinder centres.
We regard the offset big end as only equal in bearing value to a narrower rod of twice the short side and that all the extra piece on the long side does is to assist lubrication.

Wheelcase and auxiliary drives.

Triangular silent chain drive to camshaft and auxiliaries with automatic adjustment of chain tension. Chain drive arranged with tension side between crank pinion and camshaft wheel.
Dynamo is located on steering box side of crankcase with water pump driven on front end of wheelcase.
Dynamo drive shaft coupled to vertical shaft through spiral gears. Upper end of vertical shaft drives double battery ignition head and lower end drives oil pump. (See attached sketch).

Lubrication System.

Oil temperature regulator to be used as instructed for SpectreCodename for Phantom III, also Tecalemit filter. Two pressure oil system arranged with differential valve so that proportionate quantity of oil at both pressures is always available. Separate small filter for oil to valve gear. Usual gauze filter protecting oil pump suction. Valve for emptying oil sump and oil level indicated on crankcase as SpectreCodename for Phantom III. Some cars are indicating oil level on instrument board but we doubt if the Hobson gauges used sufficiently reliable for this purpose.
