X254 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner}7/HP.17.5.34. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Preventing valves dropping into the Bentley cylinder. We send you herewith Lec.3933 showing some modifications to our original scheme Lec.3873. It appears necessary to provide a counterbore to receive the split ring when the valve spring breaks. In the reports of the tests it has been suggested that the counter bore should be formed at the top of the valve guide. We do not think this a very suitable place because it allows the valve to fall a considerable distance. We have formed the counterbore in the top of the packing washer. E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} | ||
