Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}17/JH. 19th August, 1937. Messrs. Adamant Engineering Co.Ltd., Dallow Road, LUTON. For the attention of Commdr. Matravers. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 16th inst. and note your suggestion that we should use your 1 11/16 standard size. We entirely agree that it would be preferable to use your standards as far as possible but we are afraid it is now too late to do so, as we have already begun to tool up for the smaller gear. The increased size is also quite appreciable and would probably entail a 30% increase of weight. We have no objection to ball bearings on the cam and if the other considerations did not apply we should be glad to use your standard size. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
