FILE UNDER BUMPER AS IT IS. 8426B. I The Bumper Chassis P2 Bonnet and Radiator Movement Specification 1. Diamond engine mounting to hec 2910/11. 2. Radiator centrally mounted as on N.2 series. 3. Bonnet, fitted with steel angle stiffeners on the side panels as on N.2. Series, but not fitted to overhang the dash, in order to be able to measure the relative movement between the bonnet and the dash. The bonnet was originally to made a fit to the radiator and given .125" clearance against the dash. The latter clearance now being in the coachbuilders hands we considered it unwise to reduce this present drawing clearance. Tests with the above have been carried out to improve the behaviour of the radiator and bonnet when driving over extreme road conditions repeating and continuing from those previously done in France with 25 EX Car. The front wheels of the chassis are rotated by two 4 ft diameter drums having one 2" high cam on each, opposite to one another. To find the most severe results and to quicken the failure of parts, the normal running speed of the bump which is 105 drums r.p.m. was raised to 150 drum r.p.m. so This being the maximum frame jellying speed of the Bumper Chassis. | ||
