Dear Mr. Devereux,

Mr. Robotham has asked me to write to you concerning a dural rear axle tube with which we are experimenting.

The attached print. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}600. shows the proposed axle tube.

We would like to know whether the flange at the end can be upset and whether it is a practical production job.

Can you also give us an approximate price, based on quantities of 2,000, and:

(a) pre-war material costs.
(b) anticipated post-war costs (presumably about 6d./lb.)

We would like a short length of tube of the size shown, for the purpose of some tests on shrink fits.

If you have any in stock, will you please send us 2 ft. We will send an official order as soon as we hear that you can supply us.

Yours faithfully,
