Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} CHARACTERISTICS OF NEW DYNAMO-BATTERY CHARGING ARRANGEMENTS ON BENTLEY AND 40/50 USING C.A.V. REGULATOR. We send you herewith curves shewing the rate at which a battery would receive charge assuming that the battery was fully discharged initially. These curves illustrate the fall of battery charge as the volts and the electrolyte specific gravity rises with continued charge. The upward kink in the charging current curve shews the effect of the regulator heating up. It is interesting to note that with the battery fully charged there is only a small charging current of 3½ amperes. This is just sufficient to meet the intermittent requirements of battery ignition, fuel pumps, petrol gauge and in wet weather the wind-screen wipers without drawing upon the battery. These curves still further emphasise the immense superiority of this new scheme of charging over any we have ever had before on our chassis. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. | ||
