Ah. X-44118 PN {Mr Northey} 10/DN24.8.26. TO BY copy to Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} " " Hm {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} " " H FROM P.N. CHASSIS NO. 50-S-2. W.R. James, Esq. Referring to your BY1/K27.7.26 addressed to Hm {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} , I am surprised to note that you consider the two fractures of the side-steering tube on this car to be the result of steering wobbles, and you refer to the high stress shewn on this tube by high speed wobbles. Surely, in the first place, high speed wobbles are never made with any practice on the 20 HP model, and whilst some 20 HP chassis have developed low speed wobbles, these have not been frequent nor are they anything like as stress-causing as in the case of the high speed wobble. You were aware doubtless that this chassis was the victim of a collision when in the hands, I believe, of the previous owner, and although I have no details in front of me of what took place, I certainly feel justified in taking the view that any subsequent fracture such as we are discussing, might reasonably be attributed to this collision. | ||
