48950. To CWB. from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/LG17.3.27. 103-MC CAR. We have now completed the work on this car and it will be in London on Friday the 18th.inst. We consider that the steering of this car is now quite free from high speed wobbles. We have fitted a spring loaded cross steering tube and we do not feel that the steering will be too heavy for Continental conditions. The rear springing of this car is rather light. We have therefore set the rear shock absorbers to 45/50 lbs. as otherwise the car does not hold the road well at high speeds. We are returning the car with 4 wheels [strikethrough]maxixe[/strikethrough] of the latest type. The two wheels at present on the rear axle cannot be used on the front axle. Amongst other things, the radiator shutters did not open sufficiently early - we have adjusted these. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
