c. Mr D'Aeth

GOSHAWK II. REAR AXLE.
RE BEVEL PINION THRUST.

In a note from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} he now states that he was misled in thinking he had supplied us with a design for taking the load on a deep groove bearing, but in the meantime we assume that he would maintain the external dimensions of the present housing scheme, and have instructed that six deep groove bearings Nos. 330, should be obtained having no entering slots.

Mr. Dolman in the Order Office now informs me that we have already specified these bearings for a different duty on another part of the Goshawk; the bearings are therefore available and we think it would be possibly advantageous for Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to fit up a thrust scheme to suit this, which will be supplied by Mr. D'Aeth as quickly as possible, and put this on one of the Goshawk cars which should be given a good run on a dynamometer on the different gears in order to rapidly test out whether the scheme is reasonable or not.

The deep groove type of No. 330. Hoffman bearing has a spigotted cage. To make quite sure, the bearings in question should be obtained from Mr. Dolman in the Order Office.
