To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} c. to RG.{Mr Rowledge} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 47010 RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}2/BE11.7.28. RE. F.{Mr Friese} & H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} ENGINES AND CHASSIS CRANKSHAFTS. X.7010 X.3865 X.8010 X.4458 X.5010 With reference to the oil tubes in the crankshaft pins. It was suggested to RG.{Mr Rowledge} that the tubes should project in the feed bore .200", in order to prevent the silt and foreign matter in the oil working up the tube to the conn. rod big end. He agreed to this, and it has been carried out on several experimental engines, also on the engine which has just completed type test. Judging by the condition of the type test it appears to be quite effective as all round the root of the projection was lined with foreign matter. We are now arranging these tubes that the ends are shaped parallel with the bore in shaft, and in view of the fact that RG.{Mr Rowledge} agreed to this modification, we would recommend that the detail and arrangement drgs. are altered.
