Huckerby} 16th June, 1939 (Dictated 15/6/39) Messrs.Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. For the attention of S.H.Grylls, Esq. Dear Sirs, Further to your letter of the 9th inst. and our's of the 10th concerning Bentley Hydrolift jacks, as you know we have been endeavouring to complete the six jacks constructed in accordance with the latest design discussed between us some time ago incorporating double inlet ball valve and filters. On making up the first jack with the new die castings now to hand, we find we are in trouble with the suction side of this, due to the smaller orifice necessary to accommodate the second ball. We also find that the copper joint washer carrying the filter between the jack tube and the body when tightened home is impossible to remove, should it be desired to get at the non-return ball valve. These points are having our very careful attention, but are causing further delay. Therefore, we are despatching to you, two standard 15" jacks of the old design so that you will be able to equip your cars now running about in order to settle the length of jack you actually require and the position of the bracket. With regard to the bracket, the dies are now completed for this, and are ready to be put in work at short notice. -contd- | ||
