Dear Mr. Hives,

Many thanks for your letter of the 26th inst. relative to the brakes on my 3 1/2 litre Bentley.

By taking great care in washing the wheels it is possible to avoid water getting on to the brake linings. If you arrive at an improvement I shall be much obliged if you will let me know.

As regards the extension to the gear lever which I mentioned to you, I have had an extension piece made up here, and, in addition to lengthening, the knob has been offset, which forms a very convenient leg rest, and also makes it much more get-at-able.

I have done about 700 miles in the car to date, and the more I drive it the better I like it, and when I can get all the body defects eliminated it will be my ideal of what a motor car should be.

Yours sincerely,

Bernard Hopps.
