X 200 To Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} (FOR DEPOT SHEET). Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW.6.5.36. Dropped Front Cross Member between the Headlamps - Bentley. Cases have occurred where cracks have developed in the dropped cross member between the head lamps. The attached sketch indicates the location of these cracks. The cross member is not of vital importance and its main function is to steady the head lamps. Cars, however, should be inspected for the trouble when they come into service stations, and if cracks can be detected the cross member should be changed. On production the forging where the crack occurs has been strengthened up from the present date onwards, and as soon as supplies are obtainable all cross members fitted should be of this type.
