SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} C. c. to RDY. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Y7530 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/MB. 2.2.29. 'SS{S. Smith}' INSTRUMENT BOARD. X.7530 X.4038 Referring to our conversation on Friday morning last re. SS.{S. Smith} instrument board we agree to immediately send Derby a design whereby the K.S. gauge is incorporated in the framed patch of RR. instruments, and we think the ordering of material had better wait for this if at all possible. No road testing will be needed. We asked Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}/Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} to send us immediately 2 sample heads of K.S. gauge - (1) standard RR. K.S. fitting we now use, and (2) the K.S. head fitting which they supply to such people as Messrs. Smith & Sons Ltd. for us in interior lighted patches. We would be glad if these could be despatched to us immediately to enable us to get on with the job. Two or three days will see the design completed. We agree that in order to meet Sales criticisms we should have black dials with white letters as an alternative to the cream dials preferred by R.{Sir Henry Royce} Would Derby please arrange to fit up a framed patch of instruments with black dials and with the existing back mount, and give Sales an opportunity of inspecting this. This can be done with an existing patch. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
