10,000 MILES TEST IN FRANCE ON ADOPTED SCHEME OF BRAKES.

Two cars (98-NK and 35-PK) have completed 10,000 miles in France. 98-NK has returned, 35-PK is still in France and has covered another 3,000 miles beyond the 10,000 miles.

The brakes and operation have given no serious trouble.

The brakes on 98-NK, when the car returned after completing 10,000 miles, were excellent. The car has been tried by various Officials at Derby who expressed themselves very satisfied. It is now being used for spring tests in London; the brakes not having received any attention since the car returned.

The tests in France prove that the average speed for the 40/50 HP. car is materially increased with the addition of efficient braking. The average speed for the whole of the 10,000 miles running on 98-NK car was between 39/40 m.p.h. In numbers of XXXXX runs the car has averaged 50 m.p.h. and some cases has averaged 57 m.p.h. for two hours running.

98-NK had previously completed 10,000 miles in France fitted with the DES.80 scheme of brakes. Considering this car has now been raced over 20,000 miles in France, it is in wonderful condition.

The chief failures on the brakes have been due to oil getting on to them. In the case of the front brakes, this was
