-3- a lift for brushes of 14,000 miles, must be considered good. The condition of the machine with respect to insulation and bearings, was found to be good. Regulator (Lucas A type 1R7) LOR.DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}1922 Single Contact. Generally the condition of the regulator was good. It was found to have altered slightly, the output having increased from about 19.5 to 20.5 amperes. This is in itself not considered serious. The cutout (RA) was also found to have altered slightly, the air gap being reduced from .043 to .041, with a corresponding reduction in the operating voltage, from 12.2 to 11.7 volts. This again, is not serious and is probably due to slight wear on the points or bending of the strip to which the point is attached. Distributor (Delco). After 4,786 miles the points required resetting due to Rocker Block wear. After a further 1,623 miles the points closed and again required resetting. Contact points in a very good condition and governor quite satisfactory. The cause of the Rocker Block wear is a rough cam. Tracking also occurred in the distributor head causing a flat spot. This is a new fault, and we consider it is due to an excessive voltage being applied, (open circuit) or water spilled in the head and not wiped dry, this may have occurred early in its life as a track once started will gradually become worse. We have examined all distributors in our possession for signs of tracking without success. Coil.D.73673 (Wraith Standard). No trouble experienced. 'Cold' secondary voltage when fully loaded, found to be 7.9 Kilovolts, which is up to standard, mileage - W29 - 15,000 miles. W20 - 3,434 miles. Ballast LOP.DE.296. (Standard). No trouble experienced, in good condition. | ||
