X/010 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.13/KT.24.5.33. P.II. CYLINDER HEAD - E.83906. The combustion chambers of this head are of incorrect capacity due to two reasons. (1) Drawing office error. (2) Deviation of the capacity of head as machined from capacity marked on drawing. (LeC.3446.) Will you please have the machined shape of the combustion chambers checked to determine whether error (2) above is due to a further Drawing Office error in calculation, or a machining error. In order to obtain the correct compression ratio of 5.5 : 1 it is necessary to machine .102" off the joint face of this head. Will you ascertain whether it is possible to do this without scrapping the head, and if so, remove this amount. This alteration is urgently required. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std. | ||
