To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} x4217 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}18/KW.2.7.34. Terraplane Clutch in Bentley B-1 Unit. We want to try a cork in oil clutch on the light flywheel unit and send you herewith Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1454 showing how this can be done. We shall do away with the R.R. clutch spring drive and use the Terraplane one. Further points :- (1) We must use a new B. & B. cover and pressure plate supplied herewith, as the spring strength is correct. (2) Covers must be welded on to stop oil leaking past the operating lugs. Also covers are required over the springs for the same reason. (3) We think some jointing compound should be used between the clutch and flywheel to prevent leaks. (4) Although on the drawing the clutch fingers appear to foul the spring drive this is no so on the actual pieces. (5) The 1st motion shaft with B. & B. splines must be used as the standard one cannot be made to suit. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
