To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} x785 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.11/KW.4.6.34. Radiator Tests on Vulture at Brooklands. We are proposing to carry out radiator tests on the Vulture car at Brooklands in the near future, and should like to get the car in the shop at the earliest opportunity. Will you please carry out the following to this car :- (1) Cure exhaust blow at front expansion chamber - this occurs at the exit pipe from this front box and appears to be due to the box having burnt through under its lagging. (2) Remove cylinder head at present fitted to this car (6:1 C/R.{Sir Henry Royce}) and fit standard cyl. head with which we will supply you, retaining present Halford tappet gear. (3) Fit special water outlet to this standard cylinder head and a bottom water pipe with a thermometer pocket and union - this special water outlet, with which we will supply you, has a thermometer and union attached. (4) "Slipping back" of the ignition control when the engine is accelerated is still present on this car. Will you please modify the controls to prevent this. (5) Examine front axle for cracks such as are at present being experienced on Bentleys. (6) Adjust front and rear brakes. (7) Modify gearbox to have 8º screw thread cones for 2nd speed synchromesh with 45º cam angle. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/C.S. Steadman. | ||
