X676 Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}13/E18.12.29 Re.Motor Car Insurance: Private Mileage use. Will you please note the following and circulate it to such members of your Department as are likely to use Company's cars for other than business purposes: The proposed legislation in regard to compulsory insurances of the third party risks has caused the Board to investigate the Company's position in regard to car insurance. This investigation has revealed the fact that in the very special terms under which officials have the privilege of using the Company's cars on a private mileage basis, there is no amount included to cover ordinary insurance risks. The Board have, therefore, decided that as and from the 1st January next all officials who wish to use cars under the private mileage scheme will have to cover fully the third party risk whilst using any of the Company's cars irrespective of who is driving. In view of the Board's decision the use by any officer of a Company's car under the circumstances named will be assumed to indicate that the risk is accepted and covered by the user. Sg.{Arthur F.
