Drawing No. E.87324 Part List H.6080 Description of Parts: P.III FILTER BODY, FILTER GAUZE, FILTER CHAMBER PLUG. Origin: The filter body to be made in brass instead of Aluminium to prevent the thread being turned off by the nut. The stainless filter chamber nut to be made in 2/30 stainless and plated similar to 2/30. The 100 mesh filter gauze to be used in place of 60 mesh. This is to overcome the probable cause of carburettors flooding. Report of Experimental Test: We are standardising these parts although no mileage has been run from the evidence taken during our investigation upon flooding P.III carb. See - R.1/HP.15.5.37. Tests taken by Rx. have proved that the 100 mesh filter has sufficient area for the petrol requirements of P.III engine when it is 2/3 choked up.
