We send you herewith drawing LeC.1415 of the propose choke valve for the exhaust so that the temperature of the hot spot jacket near the throttle can be maintained at light loads. You will remember that it was arranged by us that the foot accelerator should open this choke valve and it is assumed that for all governed speeds and light loads running the 3/4" pipe passing to the throttle will be sufficient to carry the whole of the exhaust gas. The choke valve in the exhaust pipe, however, need not be a very close fit, and experience may teach us that this can be even slacker than is necessary for free working. The construction of the avlve is clearly shewn and we hope you will be able to make it successfully from this drawing. If Mr. Pottinger is available for the work, we think he would be very suitable to finish off any points that require attention. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
